“Urban Cowboy” serves as the inspiration for this release. The film features John Travolta as Bud - a cowboy who moves from his rural home of Spur, Texas to Pasadena, Texas where he quickly stumbles across Gilley’s Nightclub - “The World’s Largest Nightclub.” The founder, Mickey Gilley, originally named the club “Den of Sin”, an apt coinage for the energy that charged the venue. The club attracted many well-known acts including Stevie Ray Vaughan, George Straight, Willie Nelson, and eventually Hollywood, which ultimately produced “Urban Cowboy.”
