The FoxFibre® Green Weft Selvedge is a 13oz Japanese selvedge denim that pairs indigo rope-dyed warp yarns with a naturally colored FoxFibre® weft. The distinctive green-grey tone comes from natural green FoxFibre® cotton that has been treated with iron, a traditional mineral-based process used to deepen and stabilize naturally occurring color. Rather than adding dye, the iron reacts with the cotton’s inherent pigment, resulting in an earthy green-grey tone that becomes more pronounced with washing and wear.

FoxFibre® was developed by cotton breeder and environmental pioneer Sally Fox, who began her work in the 1980s by selectively breeding naturally pigmented cotton varieties to eliminate the need for conventional dyeing. Because the color is grown into the fiber itself, FoxFibre® significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with chemical dyes and finishing.

Green FoxFibre® is one of the rarest and most difficult varieties to work with. It produces shorter fibers and much lower yields than brown FoxFibre®, making it challenging to spin consistently and limiting its availability. For this fabric, the cotton is grown in the United States, with the yarn spun in Osaka, Japan, bringing together sustainable agriculture and Japanese textile expertise.
